MT Hagen police have arrested four men, including two security guards, in connection to the March 11 armed robbery at Hardware Haus near Hagen Kofi.
The four suspects were believed to be among 15 men armed with firearms, who held up three Wapa security service guards and fled with K40,000 worth of chainsaws.
The two security guards were arrested at their work station (Telikom depot) on April 1 following an investigation by Wapa and police.
Another suspect was picked up at Madang compound in a joint Wapa-police operation.
The fourth suspect was arrested at the Mt Hagen Council Chamber last Friday night.
Wamp Nga Group of companies chairman Wai Rapa expressed concern over the credibility of some security companies operating in Mt Hagen.
“Security firms must screen their employees thoroughly with the assistance of police before recruiting them.
“When security firm employees are involved in criminal activities, business houses will lose confidence and faith in security services.
“There are certain procedures to be adhered to when recruiting guards. But in this case, it seems that the employer of the two guards arrested, had not done a proper screening,” he said.
