THREE Rabaul police constables and a reservist were suspended for 21 days following the death of a detainee.
Commander Chief Inspector Januarius Vosivai said the detainee and his crew were suspected sea pirates operating between West New Britain and East New Britain.
“They were brought in to the Rabaul police station by the four policemen men for questioning on June 23,” he said. “While the four are under suspension, investigations into the death of the detainee will continue.
“We are yet to establish the cause of the death, and we are still carrying out our internal investigations.
“We will proceed accordingly to the outcome of the probe,” he added.
Vosivai said investigations into the sea piracy that occurred in late May would continue.
