Four in court after fight at bride-price function

FOUR men charged with causing grievous bodily harm in a village in Central have been committed to stand trial at the National Court.
Allen Bengi, 18, Victor Belo, 56, Jayson Gagu, 19, and Martin Belu, 19, are all from Inaujina village, in Mekeo district, Central.
They appeared before Magistrate Ben Kome at the Waigani Committal Court.
Kome said there was enough evidence to commit them to trial.
The court heard that on Jan 6 this year, between 1pm and 2pm, the four were at Inaujina village cerebrating a bride-price ceremony.
A fight broke out among the youths who were drinking. A man sustained a deep cut on his head and his father who came to question the group was also assaulted.
He was treated at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
The four are in custody and will appear in court on Dec 15.
