THREE players — Willie Minoga, John Stanley and Sani Wabo — have withdrawn from the SP Hunters pre-season training squad while flyer Garry Lo has signed on to play in France next year.
Dilbert Isaac has an injured back and is awaiting medical clearance before joining camp, according to a statement from the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League.
Lo is understood to be re-joining French Elite One Championship club AS Carcassonne. The 26-year-old arrived in Toulouse last Thursday.
Hunters coach Matthew Church gave his first update following the announcement of a 40-man squad, who have been training for the past two weeks.
Church has added Tom Moide (Central Dabaris), Steven Bruno (Kimbe Cutters), Israel Steven (Enga Mioks), Casey Dickson (Lae Tigers) and Brendon Gotuno (SP Hunters) to the squad.
“The players have passed medical tests and the first two weeks of pre-season training has been very intense,” Church said.
He said the four test players — Stanton Albert, Enock Maki, Terry Wapi and Stanford Talita — would join the camp in the New Year.
The squad will be in training until Dec 20.
“We break for the festive season from Dec 21 and resume on Jan 6,” Church said.
