FOUR schools in Nawaeb district, Morobe, will be the first in the province to receive televisions as part of their learning programme

Local MP Gisuwat Siniwin arrived in Lae from Port Moresby yesterday with four TV screens, DVD players, teachers’ resource books, students’ workbooks and DVDs containing science and mathematics lessons to be distributed to Bandong, Wanna, Bosa primary schools.

The schools are in the Wain-Erap area of his electorate.

Siniwin, a long-serving teacher and secondary school principal and Vice-Minister for Education, said it was important that the quality of teaching and learning in rural schools be stepped up.

“The schools and teachers in this part of the world can now have access to quality teaching and learning materials,” he said.

The material was handed over to representatives of the schools at Nadzab Airport yesterday.

The material is part of the Project for Enhancing Access and Capacity of EQUITV Programme (EQUITV Phase 2) which was introduced in the country in 2002.
