EASTERN Stars FC coach Moiyap Francis will have to prove his capabilities to win back his women’s soccer coaching position by ensuring his team beat visiting Niupetro Fox in the NSL wash-out match today.
The women’s coaching position will be up for grabs when the PNG Football Association advertise the position in March.
The former PNG striker was recalled by Eastern Stars FC franchise owner Joe Ealedona to help coach the team in the NSL challenge this season.
Overlooked by other franchises, the Stars had provided an opportunity to make use of his coaching skills at the elite level, the semi-professional soccer in the 2009-10 season.
Francis would not want to drag into the coaches’ selection but he is optimistic that his Eastern Stars charges would give their best shot against the visitors.
The Manusian is counting on his import Timothy Joe (backline), midfield/flanker Paul Walei and skipper Adrian Komu to lead his side.
Komu from Bogia in Madang, will be up against his former teammates but will certainly not let his new franchise owner let down.
Francis is not underestimating the visitors and would field a strong team to get a positive result for the supporters.
Attempts to contact Fox coach John Gringo has been unsuccessful.
It is understood that Madang would be calling on the services of Robin Malwok, Raymond Bailey and Terence Bandi to lead the boys this afternoon in what should be an interesting match.
Meanwhile, the draws for this weekend are the top-of-the-table clash between Hekari and CMSS Tigers, Uni Inter to take on Tukoko University, Eastern Star to clash with Gigira Laitepo Morobe in Port Moresby and Niupetro do battle with Besta PNG in Lae.
