FRENCH-BASED pair Nickson Borana and Gahuna Silas have put their hands up to play for Papua New Guinea in the end-of-year Rugby League World Cup in England.
The former SP Hunters forwards play for Les Loup Villefranche and Saint Gaudens respectively in Elite One, France’s top-tier rugby league competition.
Another PNG player, Kuni Minga, is also playing for Saint Gaudens.
Borana told The National yesterday that he was available for representative duties.
“Of course, one of my biggest goals in rugby league is to represent my country on the biggest stage and that is to play for the Kumuls in a World Cup,” he said.
“The Kumuls jersey is special and we know many young Papua New Guineans want to wear it.
“But having said that, I am not naive to think that I will make the squad for the World Cup.
“If it happens then that’s great.
“If it doesn’t then the Kumuls will gain one more local supporter in England as I will be there to cheer them on.”
Former Rabaul Guria and Central Dabari Silas only joined Saint Gaudens last week.
