French movie night starts with a chef’s tale

 THE Alliance Française de Port Moresby is starting its monthly movie night this year with one about a female chef who was appointed by the French president to be his personal cook.

Haute Cuisine (cuisine of high-level establishments) is a 2012 French comedy-drama.

The main character in the movie Hortense Laborie is a celebrated chef living in the Perigord region, in southwest France.

To her surprise, the President appointed her as his personal cook.

Laborie works her heart and soul to produce both a stylish and authentic cuisine despite jealousy aroused in other chefs.

The movie is based on the true story of Danièle Mazet-Delpeuch and how she was appointed as the private chef of the former president, François Mitterand.

The movie will be shown at Ela Beach Hotel on Feb 7 at 6.30pm.

Entrance is free. 

The movie is in French with English subtitles.
