A GROUP of men stole 13 drums of fuel from the Lutheran Shipping wharf in Madang last Friday.

A Jomba Police Station officer said the men tied up two security guards and took the drums of fuel.

“‘The theft happened early in the morning and the men had enough time to shift the drums of fuel,”’ he said.

The source said police officers had been focused on polling to be conducted the same day but had managed to retrieve eight of the drums of fuel.

He said the men had used a dinghy to shift the drums up the Meiro River, near Madang Airport, and hid them there. The dinghy operator was later identified and arrested.
