PACIFIC Energy Aviation (PNG) Ltd will be developing a new fuel farm at Jackson Airport, in Port Moresby.
The new fuel farm will be able to store about 10 million litres of jet fuel and have contingency stocks to cover three weeks.
General manager Henry Elias said the existing site had storage capacity of two days and there was growing demand for fuel at the airport.
He said the plan was in line with the airport master plan because PEAL’s site would become the new car park for the airport.
Speaking during the airport project new lease signing last week, Elias said it completed the approval process for work on the airport development project that began six months earlier.
He said it was the land strategic development project undertaken by national aviation corporation’s subsidiary company, Airport City Development Ltd.
Elias said the 40-year lease issued was for a new parcel of land for PEAL’s new fuel farmproject.
He said capital works that PEAL was committed to so far were in excess of A$12 million (K26.29 million).
“PEAL would like to assure all customers, stakeholders and the general public that it will provide world class aviation refuelling facilities that will meet industry expectations,” he said.
Elias said PEAL’s commitment in partnership with NAC in growing together with Jackson Airport, saw it commit to building a new hydrant pipeline to service the Antanov aircraft that will be operating for the LNG freighting operations at the old airport, and extension of the existing pipeline from the domestic terminal to the new fuel farm.
