Fuelling police work

PROBLEMS with logistics slows the work of the police, says Waigani Police Station commander Chief Sgt Bill Wareka.
Chief Sgt Wareka said this yesterday when accepting a donation of fuel drums for the family and sexual violence unit (FSVU) in Waigani, Port Moresby.
He said police were unable to look for suspects and make arrests because they did not have enough fuel.
Wareka said the fuel they were allocated each week was not enough to execute their duties.
He said most of the time, police were blamed for not doing their jobs but the fuel shortage was one of the main obstacles affecting their job.
Wareka thanked RMA Holdings Ltd managing director Tyra Saun Agonia for the donation.
He said it was good to see local companies support policing.
Agonia, who presented the fuel drums, said the donation included two fuel drums, fuel pumps and a storage place for the fuel drums.
She said the company would donate two drums of fuel every month.
The donation of drums fuel and equipment was valued at K3,000.
Agonia said the donation was to help the FSVU protect mothers.
