Fun Run returns this time with TB message

 THIS year’s Trukai Fun Run Auctions will be held in Lae on May 1st and Port Moresby on May 2nd this week. Trukai is providing 90,000 Fun Run T-shirts this year to the Papua New Guinea Sports Federation & Olympic Committee (PNGSFOC) for the auctions.

This is an opportunity for corporate organisations, NGO’s, Community Groups and also Government Departments to participate in the annual event. Organisations can sponsor a school with these shirts by bidding for them and also have their logos on the shirts.

As part of Trukai’s positive actions on corporate social responsibility, community awareness messages have been included on past Fun Run shirts. Previous messages have focused on HIV and AIDS awareness however, for 2013 the message will address Tuberculosis (TB) with the statement: “STOP TB IN PNG, TB is Curable, Treatment is Free!”

When purchasing these shirts, organisations will not only be assisting the PNG Sports Federation & Olympic Committee raise funds to send Team PNG to the Mini Games in Wallis & Futuna this year, they will also be spreading the important health message and promote community participation and unity.

These messages will be spread throughout the country when participants of the Trukai Fun Run wear their shirts before, during and after the event, which is set for June 23rd in Port Moresby and other centres including Lae, Goroka, Kavieng, Kokopo, Lihir, Popondetta, Mt. Hagen and Ok Tedi.
