SOME roads, especially Beon Road, in Madang, need urgent maintenance but work has been incomplete due to funding issues, Madang Department of Works and Highways manager John Pora Ker says.
However, Ker said the Japan International Cooperation Agency had conducted road maintenance training for Works and Highways Department in Madang.
“The training covered practical skills such as preparation of actual construction schedule, surveying to guide construction work based on existing road bed quantity estimation,” he said.
“And preparation of daily work procedures, security caution and quality control for imported material in regards to thickness with officers deployed from the Plant and Transport Service.”
Ker said the training would also help workers use the right equipment for the right purposes to build better quality road networks.
