Funding report needed

Letters

THE government of the day has publicly announced that all DSIP and PSIP funds for 2018 have been discharged as per close of government financial year (The National, Dec 18).
The people who voted MPs into parliament want to know the truth about whether all elected MPs have been allocated the DSIP and PSIP.
The reason behind this call is that some MPs are seen to be delivering some projects in their respective districts throughout the country, but others do not know where to start, what to plan, how to communicate and get projects implemented.
So, if the announcement about DSIP and PSIP being discharged for year 2018 is true, then please make the voters happy by publishing all the names of MPs, amount of DSIP and PSIP funds discharged.
This is a check and balance for people to follow up, know the truth about their elected MP receiving how much as their representative for their district development authority to plan and implement projects.
The Government must change some attitudes and behaviour in monitoring public funds.
People must know about the DSIP and PSIP and monitor as well, because that will be their basis in assessing their elected MP on how well the people’s money is being equally distributed to projects within the district yearly.
Therefore, Finance and Treasury departments should make it their business to provide to the national newspapers all details and disbursement of DSIP and PSIP for accountability and probity purposes in use of public funds.
The newspapers can then publish the details for public viewing.
