‘Future bright for NIP education’

Education

THE future is bright for education in New Ireland, provincial assembly member and chairman of education Graham Lali says.
“Health and education are priority areas of the New Ireland government,” he said.
Lali was speaking during the 60th anniversary celebrations of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH) International School in Kavieng.
He said OLSH’s progress, being named the governor’s school of excellence last year, was part of the plan of the provincial government to support education in the province.
“This is an intervention policy. This is to integrate and support education in the province,” Lali said.
OLSH is currently taking in 25 students who are on a scholarship programme sponsored by the provincial government. That number will be increased to 50 next year.
Lali said schools should learn from OLSH on how to get better results in students’ academic work.
He said this type of policy was devised to address the standard and quality of education in the province.
