THE Kokoda Fuzzy Wuzzy Nines (Nov 25-29) has attracted 28 teams.
The Funeral Home Laumas are back to defend the cup according to tournament director Manu Lofena.
Lofena also thanked the Laumas management for returning the cup.
He said it showed the Laumas were not only keen to defend the title but also to take on the best of the National Capital District and Central.
Laumas coach Peter Popal said his team had been in camp in Erima and were aiming to make the cup playoffs again.
“We know it’s going to be tough but I trust the boys who have played together under the Funeral Home banner,” Popal said.
Lofena said 32 teams had initially shown an interest in playing but he had to drop four because they had not paid the registration fee on the deadline.
Lofena said representatives of the 28 teams needed to attend a final meeting tomorrow at the National Football Stadium White House at 5pm where the draw would be finalised.
The cup winners get K20,000 from a K30,000 prize pool.
Teams expected to feature prominently are Laumas, Siporo Magpies, Rovanama, Miro Koivi West and Port Moresby Rugby League teams Paga, Royals and Magani.
