GABAGABA and Moukele have emerged as the two finalists for the inaugural Dulux women’s grand final which will take place in Gabagaba village tomorrow.
From 26 teams which participated in the three-week tournament Central province cricket showcased promising cricketers with impressive performances with bat and ball in the Super 8s format.
Both sides qualified after coming through the semi-final series of their respective pools with Gabagaba topping their pool which included Alukuni and Lalaura.
Moukele had to navigate through their pool which included Makerupu, Irupara and Kaparoko.
Gabagaba won their semi-final in Lalaura, Aroma Coast last Wednesday and booked their spot despite all teams in the pool finishing with four points each.
Gabagaba scored the most runs (170) from its two games.
For Moukele, their road to the championship decider was just as close, however, they finished with eights points after a four-team semi-final series. They won two of three matches compiling 303 runs.
Stars to watch from both sides include top order hitter Rakwa Kwara of Moukele and Gabagaba bowler Cathy Doana both of whom stood out in earlier matches.
The Central Cup champions will receive K2,000 courtesy of Dulux.
The event was organised by Cricket PNG to celebrate the national women’s Lewas cricket team heading to Sano, Japan, in May for the 2010 Pepsi ICC East Asia Pacific women’s trophy.
