Gahekave clocks one more personal best

PAPUA New Guinea’s Poro Gahekave had another great run in the Junior College Division One National Cross Country Championships at the Prairie Trails Golf Course in Eldorado, Kansas, US, last weekend.
The 23-year-old of Eastern Highlands and New Ireland parentage finished 22nd in a field of more than 300 representing junior colleges from around the United States, in a time of 18 minutes, 50.88 seconds on the 5-kilometre course.
The time was another personal best for Gahekave following on from her 19min 36sec effort at the US regional state championships two weeks earlier.
The cross-country season will conclude this weekend with the National Half Marathon Championships at Gulf Shores, Alabama, where Gahekave will run her first race over this (21km) distance  as a member of her South Plains College (Texas) team.
