MOROBE deputy governor Morokoi Gaiwata has urged the Lands and Physical Planning Department to refer screening of all commercial and residential applicants to its new provincial physical planning board.

He said the provincial executive council appointed the new board, chaired by the provincial administrator with Noah Giali as deputy chairman representing urban city citizens and Ahi landowners.

Board members include Allan McLay, Finkewe Zurenuoc, Jennifer Baing, John Nicholas, Effo Mare and Roy Kamen.

Three ex-officio members include one officer each from the national and provincial Works departments and the provincial lands adviser.

All board members would serve for three years.

Gaiwata also warned interested commercial and residential applicants not to undermine the capability, roles and functions of the two boards including provincial lands and physical planning by going directly to Waigani and secure land in Lae or elsewhere within nine districts for business purposes.
