Involvement with the Pacific Games has been a momentous occasion for Puma Energy, general manager Hulala Tokome says.

When receiving the Games Baton at the Harbour City Service Station at Konedobu yesterday, Tokome said Puma Energy was encouraging its staff to participate as volunteers.

It was the final leg of the baton tour around the country via the 22 provinces and it will tour the capital city before the Games official opening by Prince Andrew tomorrow.

“Puma, being part of the sponsorship of the Games, is a significant event for us,” he said.

“It’s a good thing that the Pacific Games baton relay was able to go around the country, it was at our Napa Napa refinery the other day and it landed at our service station.

“During the Games we will have a corporate box and our staff will be able to take time off to participate and we are all looking forward to that.

“The country’s going through celebrating the Games and we’d like to be a part of that.”

The Pacific Games Baton Relay covered Moresby South electorate yesterday, ending it at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium in Konedobu.

That concluded the relay for NCD and the 22 provinces.

The baton will tour the city once more before the official opening of the Games tomorrow.
