THE National Gaming Control Board has given K200,000 as its sponsorship of the annual Goroka Show.
The gaming board’s community benefit fund director, Rayleen Kurua, said the board had funds to support such events.
Kurua said they had been sponsoring the Goroka Show for many years.
“We are happy to support the people in the districts, provinces, villages and towns to enjoy the best show that Goroka always provides every year,” she said.
Kurua said the show coincided with the Independence Day event.
Show chairperson Keryn Hargreaves thanked the board for the donation, saying the contribution would help the show committee to host a bigger and better event for this year.
“We are proud to receive the money and will put into good use,” Hargreaves said.
Meanwhile, Namatanai MP Walter Schnaubelt discussed with ward members and local-level government staff on Tuesday on how to improve services in the district.
“There is a time for everything,” Schnaubelt said.
“Now the time for politics is over.
“It is time for us to work as a network and a united force to put people of Namatanai first with honesty, transparency, commitment and the willpower to serve the people.”
