The National Gaming and Control Board (NGCB) has paid K300,000 to the Moresby North East small-to-medium enterprise programme for business activities. Chief executive officer Imelda Agon said the NGCB fell short of its initial commitment of K500,000 made last November due to the impacts of the Covid-19 on the industry. Agon challenged more than 200 women and a male recipient to be disciplined and focus on starting their small businesses. “Other districts don’t have these small-to-medium enterprises programmes,” she said. “You are fortunate to be in tMoresby North East.  “Many want to participate in those businesses.  “So you must embrace these programmes and the financial trainings. “The only way to be equal partners in economic development is by having these sort of opportunities. “Without these, you can never be an equal player in the economy.” MP John Kaupa said it was up to the women to make the small-to-medium enterprises programme work.
