THE country is not experiencing the El Nino weather pattern, the Papua New Guinea Weather Service said yesterday.
Assistant director Jimmy Gamoga said there would not be a dry season.
He warned the country to expect more rains towards the end of the year.
“People are saying that the weather we are experiencing is El Nino but it is not,” Gomaga said in Port Moresby yesterday.
“The conditions are favourable and the reason we are experiencing rain is because it’s a La Nina type.
“These conditions are being experienced in the Pacific region, that’s why it’s raining throughout the dry season.
“But the rainy season will end at the end of October and that’s when the wet season kicks in, in around November.”
