Garaina people want development and services

I AM concerned with the lack of development and progress in Garaina, Morobe.
While other LLGs get to enjoy basic services such as roads, health and education, Garaina is still lagging far behind.
The only way to reach it was by air but its airstrips closed down in the 1990s.
The people are now forced to walk across the rugged Owen Stanley Range for three days to reach Lae.
As it is so remote, teachers and medical officers left and did not return.
Garaina’s soil is very fertile but as there is no road, the people are unable to bring their garden produce to market to sell.
As Garaina comes under Bulolo electorate, I call on Sam Basil to build a road to link Garaina with Wau and to the world.
