PAPUA New Guinea and World Kick Boxing Federation Muay Thai welterweight champion Lee Henry Garap, pictured, will defend his crown against Thai champion Uten Chanavan on Aug 4 at the Sir John Guise Stadium.
Garap said he was confident of retaining the WKBF Muay Thai belt for the second successive time.
Garap said both fights were not familiar with each other’s fighting abilities.
“All I know he is the Thai champion with 200 fights in Thailand, Japan, Cambodia and Australia.
“He also is Lumpinee champion which is the home of Muay Thai.
“I know it will be not be an easy fight and I will not surrender the title in front of my people.
“I have decided to defend my title here, so I’m looking forward. I started preparing last year.
“I’m polishing up to defend my title and on the day who wins is the fighter that controls the rounds until the final bell.” Garap said 10 per cent of the gate takings would be donated to the PNG Children’s Foundation.
Tickets are going for K25 and will be sold at Brian Bell Home Centres, Cool Stuff (Water Front) and J Mart (Erima) from July 20.
