Gazelle first to make grand final

GAZELLE marched into the Port Moresby Men’s Softball grand final after beating minor premiers United Brothers 5-2 in the qualifying final on Sunday.
Gazelle were quick to seize the momentum early on with Gabriel Pamel hitting a home run in the first inning .
Gazelle picked up their second in the third inning through Harry Matthew.
Brothers found the home plate at the bottom of third when Dick Bart Junior hit a homer to trail 2-1.
Gazelle added three more runs through Pamel, Meli Taragau and Tony Karani over the fifth and seventh innings to seal victory. Jerry Jollam scored a consolation run for Brothers at the bottom of the seventh.
On Saturday, Gazelle edged out Bears 5-4.
Brothers face Yokomo in a sudden death match-up next weekend.
Yokomo blitzed Brown Eagles 16-8 on Saturday and then smashed Bears 17-2 the following day.

In Lae, Manalos achieved a three-for getting having all three teams in the grand final at Scout Hall Oval this weekend.
The men’s A grade team will now join their men’s B and women’s A for the three-peat of titles.
Manalos pitcher Steven Bunbun pithced a near shut out to bundle Stormerz out of the premiership race 7-1.
In the women’s preliminary final as expected, Stormerz were too good for the inconsistent Marlins hooking them 11-2 and in the men’s B grade, Brown Eagles held off a fast finishing Marlins 12-10 to earn the right to meet the minor premiers, Manalos in the grand final.
