ONE of the two K140 million generators bought from Israel will start operating in Lae next week but there is no guarantee it will eradicate the electricity supply problems there, an official says.
PNG Power Ltd chief executive officer John Tangit was asked yesterday to comment on why Lae and Port Moresby were experiencing continuous blackouts even after the arrival of the two generators.
He said the Port Moresby generator became operational last year.
The one in Lae will be commissioned next week.
But Tangit said there was no guarantee that the generator would be the solution for Lae’s power woes.
