Get debit cards, Nasfund members told

NATIONAL Superannuation Fund (Nasfund) members have been urged to get Nasfund Contributors Savings and Loan (NCSL) debit cards to address their short term financial needs.
Nasfund chief executive officer and NCSL chairman Ian Tarutia made the call in Port Moresby yesterday.
“In the middle of the year, we introduced our debit card so this is ours so if you do not have a debit card then I urge you to get your card,” he said.
“We are now printing cards for everyone who has an account.”
Tarutia said NCSL provided for the other financial commitments that were not available at Nasfund because of the restrictive requirements of the Superannuation Act.
“So the debit card is working, we have got Efpos machines that are available, we are rolling it out through a number of merchants around the country, it is about 50,000 cards that we have out there and it works,” he said.
“We have now people transferring their fortnight salary into the card, you can go and shop and use it on other Efpos machine. We signed an interoperability agreement with other financial institutions.
“It is more progressive, we have a long term objective of making that (NCSL) a bank, so that will augment the array of services that we are giving out to the members.”
