DEBBY Nom is a little heroine after saving her grandmother’s life.
Debby, four, and her grandmother Agnes Mantila, at home in Pipripeng village, outside Mt Hagen on Nov 1 when Mantila collapsed.
Debby was playing outside when she heard a noise.
She left her toys and checked inside the house to find her grandmother unconscious on the floor.
Minutes passed by and little Debby realised something had happened but she did not know what to do.
She decided to go and get help and walked quite a distance to find someone.
Villagers at a nearby market were curious to see the little girl running and asked her if something was wrong.
She told them what had happened and the villagers raced to the house and took Mantila to hospital.
Debby’s parents, Willie Jnr and Sabina, were later told about how their daughter had helped save her grandmother.
Willie said his family did not believe that a four-year-old could do what his daughter had done.
“Without my daughter, I do not think that Agnes would be alive because people who were at the market did not know what really happened,” he said.
“She was brave and smart to go for help.”
