Give notice: Foike

LOCAL level government heads must be informed well in advance of meetings, a president says.
Wain-Erap local level government president Charlie Foike said he had been getting late notices to attend four consecutive joint district planning and budget priorities committee meetings.
“We receive notices very late that there is a JDPBPC meeting to be held and for which we are not prepared for. It is a dangerous trend,” Foike said.
He said local level governments needed time to discuss projects and issues affecting the people before tabling them in the district committee meeting.
“This has not been the case since 2012,” he said.
Foike said they previously were notified through letters a week or two before to JDPBPC meetings.
