GERTRUDE Tamade, one of the nine new acting judges inducted in Port Moresby yesterday, says young people should go after their dreams despite knock backs.
Tamade told The National: “I think my journey has been tough, lost my husband last July, went through a lot of pain. But in our pain we get up and it’s a good to serve.
“Personally, it’s good time to serve the country and give back and my advice to young men and women is to go after your dreams.
“If something knocks you down, get up and keep going because God is good.”
Tamade was admitted to the bar in 2004 and started her practice in the corporate space with Barrick Niugini Ltd.
She is also a board member of Barrick Niugini Ltd, PNG Law Society and independent committee member of BSP.
Tamade is from Morobe and has four children.
Yesterday she was one of six women inducted as judges.
“I think it’s a big achievement,” she said.
“It’s not because we are women, we turn up in court as equal and we got here as equal so the recognition and of six women – it is a great achievement and I congratulate each and every one appointed today.”
