Education

TWELVE students from Goilala in Central have been sent for further their studies at Madang Maritime College and Telefomin Baptist Community Health Workers College in West Sepik.
The students are participating in a programme between the Goilala development authority and the two colleges. Six were sent to Martime College and the other six to Telefomin Baptist College.
A total of K22,500 in school fees has been paid for the students going to Telefomin while K125,500 was spent for Martime College students.
The cost of travel and allowances for the students was K161,924.
Sacred Heart Secondary School deputy chairman Perai Manai said during the graduation last year that Goilala MP William Samb suggested the school send students to the two colleges and the school administration agreed.
Manai said the school was thankful to Samb for the initiative.
He said the initiative would be continued by the district development authority but with more students sent in the coming years.
He said the district had a nursing school but it could not cater for all the interested students from Goilala.
