NEW administrator William Goinau took office on Wednesday in Kiunga, Western province.
Mr Goinau replaced Nelson Hungrabos, whose term of office expired on July 3 last year, but remained as administrator in an acting capacity.
Governor Dr Bob Danaya, who witnessed the occasion, called for support and cooperation from all individuals and stakeholders to be given to Mr Goinau during his four-year term so that all government policies and decisions were  implemented to move the province to the next level.
“My government had experienced many setbacks and could not achieve most of objectives and priorities because the previous administration did not offer the expected support.”
However, Dr Danaya said he understood that the outgoing administrator had a lot of challenges because he started without direction and guidance.
He did not have a proper handover and takeover unlike his successor.
“The outgoing administrator serve the province to the best of his capability but because of no proper directions given to him, it  made his work challenging and tough,” Dr Danaya said.
He said his government was confident in seeing some major changes in the performance and service delivery mechanisms within the provincial administration through the new provincial administrator.
“The province is putting all its trust and belief on the new administrator that he will improve the services in the province,” Dr Danaya said.
