Gone are the days of our message carriers

DURING my childhood times back in 1980’s I used to have a narrow mind that girls at my village were the only women on earth I could find.

I was confined solely within narrow limits so that even rest of Enga province was still uncovered.

When I admired a girl of my age, the only way I could relay my massage was exclusively through a “message carrier” a person closed associate of her.

If the girl was from far distant, I had to wait in vain for a day or so before receiving the feedback.

However, today the whole episode has hanged profoundly.

The system of conveying messages via   someone else to avoid shame and dishonor has been substituted by online services such as mobile phones, Facebook, Whatsup etc. so that the two parties can communicate with some degree of self-confidence these days.

It’s an astonishing that even an under aged child is more sensitive towards the issue of love affairs which is totally different from my times.

The parents are important witnesses of past era and that of today therefore must not be blindfolded and ignorance over the changes that are menace to their children’s.

Now the technology is taking an unprecedented toll where children are most vulnerable to cybercrimes.

An example is that a teenager girl from Porgera met an unknown person who allegedly invited her to meet in Mt. Hagen.

The girl deceived her parents and sneaked off only to meet her fate when all her foolish dreams turned into a nightmare. The decomposed body was later discovered dumped along the Baiyer road.

This sad case must be taken note of by all right-thing parents.
