Good enough for Speaker

Letters

IT is quite interesting to note Parliament Speaker Theodore Zurenuoc’s acceptance of a traditional carving and other items from Goodenough Island in Milne Bay. Isn’t this the same head of the Legislature who removed traditional totem poles and other carvings from the Sepik not so long ago? I recall that this so-called man of God went on a cleansing mission after he was elected Speaker in 2012 and removed invaluable traditional artworks from Parliament House to give it a modern look and holy feel. His gesture in paying K50,000 of public monies to the school children who brought the gifts is honourable but also questionable. We hope Speaker Zurenuoc is no longer allergic to traditional artworks and that carvings from the Sepik and other parts of the country will also be good enough for him.
