SCHOOLS in the National Capital District started the school year on a high note yesterday when parents and their children turned out in numbers to register and enrol their children.
There were long queues along the classroom corridors and foot paths with children meeting old friends and making new ones.
Among the many schools that saw a huge turn out of parents and their children was Ted Diro Primary School at Hohola.
According to teacher Elijah Tiplas, the school has observed the free tuition policy of the government and registered students from elementary preparatory to Grade 8.
Registration only concentrated on continuing students.
Requests of student transfers to the school were forwarded to the Education Department for approval before they were accepted to enrol at Ted Diro.
The school was wary of the impacts of the free education policy that could increase the number of students with fewer classrooms.
Tiplas said many parents and their children arrived at the school as early as 8am to ensure they got served first.
