GOOD leaders dedicate themselves to serve others before themselves, 2018 Digicel Man of Honour award winner in Goroka Ejampi Suave says.
His advice was directed at parliamentarians who yesterday elected new Prime Minister James Marape in place of Peter O’Neill.
“I am not a politician supporting the Government or Opposition, leaders in Parliament must be sorry for the people in rural areas in PNG who are without good or any services,” Suave said.
“As a Christian country, leaders must embrace Christian principles and values at all times.”
Suave said everyone, whether dirty, a drug addict, poor man, public servant or politician was deserving of truth.
“Good leaders put themselves last, will not be selfish, will not be greedy and will put the people first and will not think of money and will not be biased,” Suave said.
He said he learnt of all the good qualities of leaders in two books titled ‘Kamap Lida and Gutpla Lida Tru” (Become leader and Good Leader).
He said the Government had forgotten about the “small people” in the districts and towns, youths were smoking drugs and consuming homebrews and services were not reaching the people due to bad leadership.
“PNG need to apologise to God for not looking after its people properly, firstly a leader has to become a leader of himself before he becomes the leader for other people,” Suave said.
