THE locally-owned Wamp Nga Group of Companies, under its new Commercial Motors, will sell almost 300 Renault trucks to the Liquefied Natural Gas service providers

Wamp Nga Holding Ltd general manager corporate services Andrew Tants said it was a great achievement after 40 years of struggling in a tough economic climate.

He said this during the relocation of the company’s subsidiary, The Computer Shop, from Goroka town to West Goroka commercial area last Friday.

“It was a good economical decision to have a company owned by local people who are venturing into selling trucks that is a great need in PNG,  especially when the resource sector is booming,” he said.

“We sold 280 Renault trucks and attracted executives of Renault truck builders in Europe to come for the launching of the Mount Hagen Commercial Motors early this month.”

In 2012, the company paid K700,000 in dividends to shareholders after turning around from a restructure 18 months ago.

The company will open the new branch next month.

“We have a lot of confidence and would like to invest in Eastern Highlands to provide quality service to the people,” he said.

“The company is free from any political alignment and other interests and only concentrates on business activities to generate revenue for its shareholders.”

Wamp Nga Holdings Ltd was started by locals from Western Highlands 40 years ago. It has shareholders in the Nebilyer, Hagen Central and Anglimp local level governments.

The board of directors consist of presidents or nominated representatives of these LLGs chaired by Mt Hagen Central LLG president Wai Rapa.

He is also the deputy Governor of Western Highlands.
