Goroka hosts qualifier

 THE Goroka Soccer Association will host the Highlands region leg of the Besta FA Cup qualifying tournament at the National Sports Institute (NSI).

The Highlands qualifying leg will be from August 22-24. 

Goroka Soccer Association president Cathy Agunam said all centres participating must field a men and women’s team.

“All teams must pay a nomination fee of K500 per team and a player registration fee of K3 per player,” Agunam said.

All payments are to be paid into PNGFA operations account no: 1000146403, BSP branch, Lae.

It is requirement that all payment receipts must be presented during the team managers meeting on August 21 to validate a team’s participation. 

Agunam said at this stage only Kainantu had indicated interest.

In the other Besta Cup regional legs, Port Moresby Soccer Association, will represent the Southern region, after winning the Southern regional challenge last month in Popondetta. 

For the New Guinea Islands qualifier hosted in Kokopo last week has only managed to produce a qualifier for the women (Kimbe) however the men’s qualifier has not been confirmed because of a dispute with the result by a finalist.

For the Momase region, Madang will host the Momase Cup latter this month.

Lae will host the semi-finals at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium on September 11 and the grand final on September 13 at the same venue.
