Goroka to have league fun day
The National, Friday February 12th, 2016
Goroka rugby league fans can show their love of football this Valentine’s Day with Digicel Play hosting a free community fun day.
The NRL in the Park community fun day will be held from 12.00pm until 2.00pm this Sunday 14 February at the National Sports Institute.
The event attracted over 500 people in Mt Hagen last weekend, all of whom enjoyed the live entertainment, and the opportunity to meet local rugby league stars, listen to local bands, win prizes and join in fun games.
Appearing at the NRL in the Park event would be live performances by local musicians and the Omokoi comedy act. The event will be officiated by EHP Governor Julie Soso.
Fans will also have the opportunity to watch their favourite NRL highlights from past seasons on Digicel big-screens showcasing memorable tries, the biggest tackles and major hit-ups. There will also be fun games and prizes to be won.
The free Digicel-sponsored ‘NRL in the Park’ will celebrate the upcoming 2016 NRL season.
Digicel PNG CEO Maurice McCarthy said the event was one of seven being held throughout PNG this month to help build the excitement for the coming season.
