THE National Gaming Control Board has welcomed the decision of the National Executive Council to reappoint Imelda Agon as the chief executive of the National Gaming Control Board.
The appointment is for five years.
Her position was formalised at Government House last Tuesday.
Agon was acting in the position from 2012 until she was confirmed in 2016.
She was the first human resources manager and director corporate affairs of the board and worked in the public service for 27 years.
During her tenure, Agon “transformed the NGCB and increased the income revenue”, according to a statement from the board.
She promoted a saving culture and rebranded the entity.
Agon revived the community benefit fund “Give Back” programme. One of her achievements was a savings of K50 million which the board gave to the Nation Capital District Commission to build the Kumul Flyover.
Agon was instrumental in driving profit which allowed the board to fully support other government programmes.
“Being a public servant has great meaning and a profound impact on me. I always strive to lead my organisation and serve the people of the nation with pride and compassion,” she said.
Agon said the board launched its five-year corporate plan 2018-2022 late last year which clearly articulated the strategic direction and priorities of the board.
“The NGCB stands ready to execute the deliverables captured in the plan and in alignment with the Government medium-term development plan three and Vision 2050,” she said.
