ENGA Governor Sir Peter Ipatas has called on his people to stop tribal fighting and change their ways for the better.
Sir Peter said bad attitudes and ways of thinking would hinder the full potential of development in the province.
He appealed to those who were constantly drinking homebrew and smoking marijuana to change their ways as nothing positive or beneficial came from such activities.
He said Enga was experiencing a period of growth but this could easily be destroyed by law and order issues in the community. He said businesses would not be able to operate in such an environment.
“We have done what we could do for the province,” he said.
“This time, I need you to change your attitudes.
“Good things will come when you invite it and that is where people need to change their ways of doing things.
“If you want to see positive change in your life, you need to take a positive approach.”
He said the tribal fights were disastrous for a community and affected the flow of basic services, froze business operations and took lives and destroyed properties.
Sir Peter urged the people to work with the Government and partners to develop the land and resource to improve their living standards.
