NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop says he will continue to back the Port Moresby Vipers as they are role models in advocating against social problems in the city.
The Vipers patron said that at the club’s Digicel Cup campaign launch on Wednesday.
“Through rugby league, the Vipers can transform youths for the better,” Parkop said.
“That’s is why I will continue to support the team.
“The aim of this team is not only to win on the field but to win outside of it and that is to help minimise social issues in the suburbs by getting youths to play rugby league.
“This game can change their lives and it can prepare them for the future.
“We talk about small-to-medium enterprises but youths playing rugby league, they can become successful in the future because they will have developed commitment, respect and a strong attitude.
Parkop said he was also confident that the 2013 premiers would do well with the addition of SP Hunters’ Ase Boas, Enoch Maki, Brendon Gotuno, Shane Haro and Keven Appo, and Papua New Guinea Kumuls’ Stargroth Amean.
