Governor Kool helps women attend meet
The National, Thursday 13th June 2013
CHIMBU Governor Noah Kool has given K10,000 to help women leaders attending a National Council of Women (NSW) annual general meeting in Mt Hagen.
Kool was in Mt Hagen for the meeting.
“I have a lot of confidence and trust in empowering women to play pivotal roles in the development of Chimbu in the next five years,” Kool told the women leaders.
He said the provincial government would continue to help women progress and initiate programmes to address outstanding issues affecting women and children.
He appointed Janet Tawi as women’s officer attached to his office to focus solely on women’s programmes and issues.
“All issues affecting women and new initiatives for them would be separately addressed through the women’s officer,” Kool said.
Women leaders in the highlands at the meeting included NCW president Scholar Kakas, Women in Politics president Dre Cecelia Kimagl and Western Highlands Provincial Council of Women president Paula Mek.
Kakas said women deserved support from the Government and thanked Kool for his assistance.
Kool also provided two vehicles to transport women between Kundiawa and Mt Hagen.
