Morobe Governor Kelly Naru last Friday advised Nawaeb MP Gisuwat Siniwin and his public servants to stay in the district so that people can see them.
In a gathering in Boana station, in Nawaeb district, Morobe, Naru said they had to make themselves visible by staying in Nawaeb and not running loose in Lae, the province’s capital.
Naru was invited by Siniwin to open a new electoral office.
“The people want to see you here, not in Lae,” Naru said.
“The member must stay with the people. Stay in the office so that people can see you,” Naru said.
The new double-complex building, which houses the MP’s office, governor’s office, conference room and transit facilities, was built at a cost of K50,000.
It will serve over 60,000 people of the district.
“Sometimes, I wonder whether your office is in Lae,” Naru said. “All your police, public servants and leaders are in Lae. Let us do business for the Nawaeb people in this office,” Naru said.
“Presidents, if you do not have an office, tell me so that I will build you one,” Naru told the three LLG presidents of Wain-Erap, Nabak and Labuta.
“This message is for all leaders to make ourselves available to the people.” Naru told the people that they should not pressure their leaders unnecessarily with trivial issues but instead cooperate and work with them to develop the district.
Naru told the people of Nawaeb that personal issues like children’s school fees and funeral expenses should not be brought to the MP or himself.
“These are small things which you can take care of. We will concentrate on bigger things.”
