Governor supports awareness in province

WESTERN Governor Taboi Yoto gave K30,000 to Western students attending the University of Papua New Guinea this year to carry out awareness over the school holidays in the province.
South Fly team leader Martyl Tau, who is a journalism student, said they had already started and conducted awarenesses in Daru, Balimo, Kiunga and Tabubil areas targeting students and educating them on the ownership and patriotism of the development taking place in the resource-rich province.
“We are sharing our experiences with the primary and secondary school students on the importance of prioritising education so that they can do something about their homes,” he said.
Tau said Western was blessed with resource projects such as the OK Tedi copper mine, large areas of wetlands for farming, marine and sea resources, beautiful flora and fauna for tourism as well as monetary capacity in terms of mining royalties and other major investments projects.
