Governor to make changes

 Western Governor Ati Wobiro has promised to transform the province with the sad experience of the OK Tedi mine behind them.

He said this in light of the Stanley Gas condensate development licence being issued to developer Horizon Oil Ltd in Kiunga last Friday and several more gas projects including Ketu, Elevala, and P’nyang soon to come on stream.

Wobiro also revealed that a soon-to-be-announced find at the Ok Tedi mine had confirmed new finds of gold, copper and silver.

“I want to turn Western province, in my term of office, from the number last to the number one province,” he said.

“I take very seriously the opportunities that we have.

“I’m not going to play around with these opportunities. 

“Our people must benefit.”
