WEST New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel says dealing directly with his provincial government will see effective implementation of aid projects.

He was referring to World Bank funding by Sustainable Agricultural Development Programme supporting road maintenance works for small holder sectors in his province and Northern.

The programme was stalled and then terminated because of administrative delays and the inability of the government to come up with counterpart funding in time to sustain the programme.

Muthuvel toldthe bank’s representative that dealing with Waigani had resulted in provinces losing out on major development projects.

He said the bureaucratic process in Waigani was often cumbersome and many good initiatives of donors and development partners had been jeopardised.

Muthuvel said if the bank was seriously looking at another programme for oil palm in his province, it should work with his  government.
