GULF Governor Havila Kavo says the Papua LNG Project should be developed entirely in his province and not elsewhere.

He said that in no uncertain terms to Petroleum and Energy Minister Ben Micah at the State and landowner issues meeting in Port Moresby on Tuesday to discuss matters relating to the PNG LNG Project.

“My good minister, the Gulf provincial government is now looking at Gulf LNG Project, or Papua LNG Project developed in the province and not anywhere else,” he said. “This is for the reason of giving fair development to the resource provinces, rather than taking it away elsewhere, where already development has taken place.

“Look at Southern Highlands and Hela. “During the Kokopo agreement, the project was supposed to have developed 10 major satellite townships.

“There are no satellite townships from the date of the agreement up to today. “Can the task team be forced to immediately develop satellite townships in the resource provinces?” Kavo also reminded Micah that the Southern Highlands-Gulf Highway was a Cabinet decision. “I have not seen any funds made available for that,” he said.
