Charles Dambui has been appointed the permanent chief executive officer of PNG Smallholders Coffee Growers Association.
The Coffee Industry Corporation CEO was appointed by the Government.
PNG Smallholders Coffee Growers Association chairman Joseph Kom congratulated Dambui because it was time for a permanent appointment to be made in an effort to instil stability and confidence in the industry.
“The coffee industry is responsible of putting money into the pockets of small growers. We need stability and confidence so the appointment brings relief to the small coffee growers,” Kom said.
He said the coffee industry needed consistency to grow towards increasing coffee production to reach two million bags annually.
“Under the leadership of Dambui, more than three million small growers have started to see positive changes in the industry,” Kom said.
“We are looking forward to continue working with the current management to assist in growing the industry.”
